A fun fact: the last coal mine in the Benelux closed in 1992 in Zolder.<\/p>\n<p>One of the beautiful locations that has been preserved is ZLDR Luchtfabriek. The Air Factory tells the story (in an interesting way) of the circulation of fresh air at a depth of 1000 meters and the daily challenges involved.<\/p>\n<p>ZLDR Luchtfabriek can be visited daily (7 days a week) free of charge from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Sunday afternoon \u2013 2 p.m. \u2013 there is a tour of ZLDR Luchtfabriek. This includes an hour-long explanation about the technical challenges and you will take a walk through the mine site. The costs for this tour and walk are \u20ac 3 pp (up to 12 years free).
